Ethos, Vision and Values

Our Identity

Our school is enriched by a playgroup, Nursery and a Deaf Resource Base, all set within our beautiful grounds that provide a nurturing environment for growth and exploration. As a primary School committed to inclusive education, we embrace the diversity of our children and families and strive to create a community where every child is valued and supported to flourish.

Our Vision

At Warstones Primary School, we believe that every child has the potential to thrive when challenged in a supportive environment. Our vision is to cultivate learners who are confident, curious, and resilient, ready to meet the challenges of their educational journey and beyond.

Understanding our context

Our school community is a rich tapestry of backgrounds and needs:

  • 46.4.% boys and 53.6% girls

  • 21.% of learners speak English as an Additional Language (EAL)

  • 45% are eligible for Free School Meals (FSM)

  • 21.6% have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), with 3.2% holding Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCP)

Our Core Values

We foster an environment where respect is fundamental — for ourselves, each other, and the world around us. Respect is demonstrated through listening attentively, valuing diverse perspectives, and behaving considerately. For example, in classrooms and playgrounds, children are encouraged to resolve conflicts peacefully and celebrate cultural differences, reflecting our inclusive community.

Kindness is at the heart of our school culture. We promote acts of kindness daily — whether helping a peer, showing empathy, or contributing to community projects. This creates a warm and welcoming atmosphere where everyone feels safe and valued.

We inspire all learners to set high goals and believe in their ability to achieve them. Aspiration is nurtured through personalised learning plans and celebrating successes, no matter how small, motivating learners to reach their full potential. We always encourage children to be the very best versions of themselves at all times, allowing their light to shine through.

We encourage learners to develop resilience by embracing challenges and viewing mistakes as opportunities to grow. This value is lived out when children persevere through difficult tasks, supported by staff who model and teach strategies for overcoming setbacks.

We empower learners to take responsibility for their actions, learning, and community. This includes caring for the school environment, participating in decision-making through Pupil Parliament, and understanding their role in the wider society.

British Values

Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural Development (SMSC)

At Warstones Primary School, we are committed to developing the whole child through a rich and varied SMSC provision that is woven throughout daily school life. Pupils are given meaningful opportunities to reflect, explore their beliefs, and develop a strong sense of right and wrong through assemblies, RE, PSHE and the wider curriculum. Across subjects, children engage in thoughtful discussions, creative expression, and collaborative learning, enabling them to build confidence, show respect and kindness, and develop the resilience to reflect on their experiences. Our curriculum is carefully designed to provide real-life contexts, encouraging pupils to think deeply, ask questions and aspire to be the very best version of themselves.

Our SMSC offer is further enriched through a wide range of experiences that promote social development and cultural understanding. Pupils take part in educational visits, themed days, celebrations of different cultures and faiths, and opportunities to contribute to the wider community. Through teamwork, leadership opportunities, and pupil voice, children develop a strong sense of responsibility and learn how to positively contribute to society. By embedding our core values of respect, aspiration, resilience, responsibility and kindness into every aspect of school life, we ensure that all pupils leave Warstones as confident, compassionate and well-rounded individuals, fully prepared for life in modern Britain.
