Ethos, Vision and Values
Our Identity
Our school is enriched by a playgroup, Nursery and a Deaf Resource Base, all set within our beautiful grounds that provide a nurturing environment for growth and exploration. As a primary School committed to inclusive education, we embrace the diversity of our children and families and strive to create a community where every child is valued and supported to flourish.
Our Vision
At Warstones Primary School, we believe that every child has the potential to thrive when challenged in a supportive environment. Our vision is to cultivate learners who are confident, curious, and resilient, ready to meet the challenges of their educational journey and beyond.

Our Core Values
We foster an environment where respect is fundamental — for ourselves, each other, and the world around us. Respect is demonstrated through listening attentively, valuing diverse perspectives, and behaving considerately. For example, in classrooms and playgrounds, children are encouraged to resolve conflicts peacefully and celebrate cultural differences, reflecting our inclusive community.
Kindness is at the heart of our school culture. We promote acts of kindness daily — whether helping a peer, showing empathy, or contributing to community projects. This creates a warm and welcoming atmosphere where everyone feels safe and valued.
We inspire all learners to set high goals and believe in their ability to achieve them. Aspiration is nurtured through personalised learning plans and celebrating successes, no matter how small, motivating learners to reach their full potential. We always encourage children to be the very best versions of themselves at all times, allowing their light to shine through.
We encourage learners to develop resilience by embracing challenges and viewing mistakes as opportunities to grow. This value is lived out when children persevere through difficult tasks, supported by staff who model and teach strategies for overcoming setbacks.
We empower learners to take responsibility for their actions, learning, and community. This includes caring for the school environment, participating in decision-making through Pupil Parliament, and understanding their role in the wider society.
British Values
-
At Warstones Primary School, we actively promote democracy by ensuring that every child’s voice is heard and valued. Through our Pupil Parliament, pupils take on important leadership roles, representing their peers and contributing to meaningful changes within the school. Elections are conducted fairly, reflecting British democratic processes, and pupils learn to express their views with respect and kindness, while demonstrating responsibility in representing others. This empowers children to develop aspiration, knowing that their ideas can shape their community and make a real difference.
-
We promote the rule of law by helping pupils understand the importance of rules in creating a safe, fair, and supportive environment. Our clear expectations encourage children to take responsibility for their actions and show respect for others. Pupils are supported to understand not only what rules are in place, but why they matter, and how they help everyone succeed. Through this approach, children develop resilience, learning from mistakes and understanding consequences, enabling them to grow into fair and responsible members of society.
-
At Warstones Primary School, we nurture pupils’ understanding of individual liberty by encouraging them to make choices, express their views, and develop independence in a safe and supportive setting. Our ethos promotes both aspiration and resilience, as children are encouraged to challenge themselves, try new experiences, and build confidence. Pupils learn that freedom comes with responsibility, and that their choices should always reflect consideration and kindness towards others.
-
Mutual respect is at the heart of life at Warstones. We foster an inclusive and supportive environment where every individual is valued and treated with kindness. Through daily interactions and collaborative learning, pupils demonstrate respect for others’ views and experiences, including during class debates and oracy discussions. Our focus on resilience helps children to manage differences positively and resolve conflicts constructively, ensuring that all members of our school community feel safe, supported, and able to thrive. This can be seen through the restorative practice that is implemented by our staff.
-
We actively promote tolerance and understanding by celebrating the diversity within our school and wider community. Pupils are encouraged to approach differences with respect and kindness, recognising the value that different cultures, faiths, and beliefs bring to society. Through our curriculum and wider experiences, children develop aspiration to become open-minded and thoughtful individuals, alongside the resilience to challenge stereotypes and embrace new perspectives in a positive and informed way.
Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural Development (SMSC)
At Warstones Primary School, we are committed to developing the whole child through a rich and varied SMSC provision that is woven throughout daily school life. Pupils are given meaningful opportunities to reflect, explore their beliefs, and develop a strong sense of right and wrong through assemblies, RE, PSHE and the wider curriculum. Across subjects, children engage in thoughtful discussions, creative expression, and collaborative learning, enabling them to build confidence, show respect and kindness, and develop the resilience to reflect on their experiences. Our curriculum is carefully designed to provide real-life contexts, encouraging pupils to think deeply, ask questions and aspire to be the very best version of themselves.
Our SMSC offer is further enriched through a wide range of experiences that promote social development and cultural understanding. Pupils take part in educational visits, themed days, celebrations of different cultures and faiths, and opportunities to contribute to the wider community. Through teamwork, leadership opportunities, and pupil voice, children develop a strong sense of responsibility and learn how to positively contribute to society. By embedding our core values of respect, aspiration, resilience, responsibility and kindness into every aspect of school life, we ensure that all pupils leave Warstones as confident, compassionate and well-rounded individuals, fully prepared for life in modern Britain.
